BlockPhysics Mod for Minecraft 1.6.4/1.7.2/1.7.4/1.7.5.BlockPhysics wants to make the Minecraft world more challenging by making all blocks as realistic as possible. Instead of falling in an awkward way, blocks now obey the basic laws of gravity. What does that mean for gameplay? Well, falling blocks will now cause damage as they fall to the ground. For example, if an ore block hits a fragile block (like leaves or glass) while it falls, then it will damage that block. To make things even more interesting, blocks will also damage enemy mobs and players on their way down, which opens the door for some creative traps (falling block death pits, anyone?) Another notable change is that ‘soft’ blocks like dirt and gravel will no longer be able to support themselves. So, if you try to make a castle out of dirt, then the blocks will simply slide off of one another if they’re not supported by some foundational structure – like an arch. Cobblestones and bricks – which some might not consider to be ‘soft’ blocks – will also fall if they’re not supported. Explosions have also been improved to make them more realistic. Instead of causing static changes on the environment, the blocks sent out during the explosion will push aside other blocks. This results in more unpredictable explosions and a more realistic Minecraft world. Players will also want to avoid standing too close to the blast zone unless they want to be hit by falling debris. During an explosion or any type of block movement, blocks can also collide with one another in the air, making block movements even more unpredictable for players. BlockPhysics also adds catapults into the mix, and they’re surprisingly easy to build. Simply craft a dispenser and place it underneath a piston. Power the dispenser with redstone and then watch as blocks get launched into the air. Launching multiple blocks at the same time is a great way to test out the new physics engine. If you want to make your Minecraft world a little more realistic, then the BlockPhysics mod will help. A lot of work has gone into making sure the blocks obey the basic laws of gravity, and although Minecraft is far from a virtual reality simulator, BlockPhysics helps Minecraft become slightly more realistic.
